About the Position

We are seeking engineers and technicians to support our Air, Waste, and Water Department, Petroleum Department and Buildings Department. In this role, you will work with a team of engineers managing and conducting field services within federal, state, and local regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting facility environmental regulatory audits (e.g., boiler efficiency testing, cooling tower compliance, stack testing) and emissions performance testing
  • Liaising with subcontractors, relaying requirements, assuring quality work, escalating issues, and enabling timely project completion.
  • Experience performing hands‑on ASME boiler tests using a TESTO® meter.
  • Experience uploading data to the DEP CATS systems / portals.
  • Experience performing hands on EPA Method 9 visual determination of the opacity of emissions from stationary sources. Re‑certification is required every 6 months and paid for my NuEnergen.
  • Develop and manage refrigerant compliance plans for commercial, residential, and industrial facilities, conduct on‑site inventories of refrigerant systems at various commercial buildings, hospitals, etc.
  • Track, monitor, and respond to DOB filings and approvals, including submission of PW1, TR1, TR8, TP, ST, and ZD1 forms via DOB NOW and e‑Filing.
  • Respond to plan examiner objections and coordinate resubmittals, corrections, or follow‑up filings.
  • Prepare and manage regulatory filings and permits with the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB), Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), and Fire Department (FDNY), including applications for boilers, chillers, generators, and related systems.
Qualifications

Candidate preferably holds a degree in environmental, chemical, or mechanical engineering, or a related environmental services field, and be able to provide their own transportation to/from the office and project locations (mileage to/from project locations will be reimbursed at prevailing IRS rates).

Key Qualifications
  • 2‑4+ years of experience.
  • EPA Method 9 visual opacity certification preferred.
  • Experience with NYC Department of Buildings Special Inspections is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel within about 40 – 60 miles to project locations; daily travel is up to 35% of the time, all travel is reimbursed.
Additional Information

Annual salary range: $60,000 to $75,000

Job Type: Full‑time, typically at project locations, others in White Plains office
