Role & Responsibilities

The Electrical Engineer role at EMS-Tech Inc. is a unique opportunity to be part of a global multidisciplinary team working on groundbreaking projects in the bulk material handling industry. You’ll be working on massive, high-impact machines and conveyor systems, while sharpening your skills in CAD drafting, PLC programming and advanced electrical design.

You’ll also have the opportunity to travel to global project sites, gaining hands‑on experience with some of the massive machines you’ll help design, while delivering cutting‑edge solutions around the world.

Here are some of the things you’ll be working on:
  • Design electrical systems and specify electrical components for complex projects to satisfy project requirements and industry standards
  • Produce technical deliverables related to EMS-Tech Inc. equipment, systems and methods to advance projects.
  • Ability to size/select electrical components such as transformers, switch gear, cables, motor control centres, motors, control components, etc.
  • Demonstrate programming skills using PLC programming (various languages) software and HMI development software (various languages), and VFD drive parameter setting, field device programming etc.
  • Demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills both remotely and in construction/testing and operating environments
  • Create and verify the accuracy of CAD 2‑D drawings using programs such as AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Conduct site visits to production facilities, global marine and land‑based material handling operations to inspect, test and troubleshoot electrical power and control systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and providing training where required. Prepare detailed technical reports following each engagement.
Qualifications
  • MBO, HBO, or bachelor’s degree in engineering science or equivalent with five years of experience, preferably in the bulk material handling, maritime, offshore or industrial sectors.
  • Proficiency in CAD drafting of power and control schematics using tools such as AutoCAD or EPLAN, with experience producing drawings to company or industry standards.
  • Ability to verify the accuracy of drawings, ensuring precision in layout and design details.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with suppliers and design team members.
  • Fluent in English language
Not Required, But a Plus
  • 8+ years experience with Design or automation
  • Fluent in Dutch language
