Power Studies Engineer – Critical Facilities – White Plains, NY / Remote

This challenging role partners with all levels of engineering and design staff to develop power studies after design is complete. Projects focus on critical power systems for new data centers and expansions to existing data centers in the hyperscale and colocation markets. The candidate will use extensive electrical power distribution system knowledge and collaborate closely with leadership to complete power systems studies and deliver high‑quality results.
Responsibilities- Autonomous in day‑to‑day work with high‑level instruction on projects or assignments.
- Execute and lead design teams and designs of complex scope, coordinating other personnel as needed.
- Mentor engineers, assist with training and development.
- Lead power systems studies focused on mission‑critical data center industry.
- Independently perform power system studies for mission‑critical data center projects.
- Evaluate equipment: assess capabilities, ratings, and conditions (transformers, circuit breakers, capacitors, etc.) and determine if equipment meets system requirements.
- Lead efforts: proposal development, training/mentoring, and development of standards/automations to improve deliverables.
- Conduct power systems studies and produce reports, including breaker settings tables, TCCs, and arc flash labels.
- Support studies: load flow studies, short‑circuit analysis, protection coordination, arc flash analysis, transient stability analysis.
- Develop proposals including project scope, schedule and budget.
- Manage time and resources for project design team.
- Identify potential project scope changes and develop strategies to mitigate cost and deadline impacts.
- QA/QC peer reviews for projects not assigned to the candidate’s own team.
- Optimize workflow and deliverables through templates, standards, autonomations.
- 5–10+ years of electrical engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering field.
- Licensed PE / EIT a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical topologies associated with mission‑critical facilities.
- Experience designing electrical power systems for complex data center/mission‑critical facilities.
- Experience with protective devices: relays, circuit breakers, fuses and knowledge of their settings.
- Understanding of equipment ratings, capabilities, and conditions.
- SME of industry and safety standards related to power systems, especially arc‑flash hazards.
- Understanding of effects and requirements of adding new generation or loads to existing systems.
- Proficiency in power‑system simulation software: ETAP, PSS/E, SKM, Easy Power.
- MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Skilled at reviewing design drawings and equipment submittals.
- Perform code analysis & possess advanced knowledge of electrical codes.
- Analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence.
- Client‑facing experience, often serving as primary point of contact.
- Self‑starter, able to work independently and prioritize tasks.
- Effective communicator, oral and written.
- Proactive, resourceful, and a multitasker.
- Exceptional organization and attention to detail.
- Skilled in completing assignments accurately and on time.
- Previous military experience a huge plus.
- Minimal travel: 10–20 %
