Program Overview

The Advisor Development Program is designed for individuals excited to make a career transition and follow their passion of becoming a Financial Advisor.

Role Summary

As a Merrill Advisor Development Program
- Financial Advisor, you will work with high‑net‑worth individuals to identify needs, develop relationships, review financial goals, and deliver comprehensive recommendations that align with both existing and prospective clients’ objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a book of business to meet and exceed established performance hurdles.
  • Prioritize sourcing prospective clients, capitalizing on referrals, assessing customer needs, referring customers to appropriate internal specialists, and executing highly customized solutions to meet client needs.
  • Recommend investment products and services suitable for prospects based on objectives, resources, time horizon, risk profile, and preferences.
  • Balance investment growth, referral activities, customer follow‑up, prospect building, administrative compliance, and personal growth and development according to day‑to‑day and long‑term planning.
  • Organize and manage resources (time, people, budget) to run a productive practice.
  • Seek expertise of specialists, where appropriate, to identify planning and investment strategies for a client.
  • Complete mandated training, assessments, performance goals and continuing education requirements.

  • Provide end‑to‑end comprehensive advice, deliver client reviews/presentations with confidence, and recommend strategies to help achieve financial goals and life priorities.
  • Collaborate with core banking and investment partners.
  • Connect to all solutions through Bank of America and Merrill to meet virtually all client financial needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Current Series 7 & 66 licenses (Series 63 & 65 accepted in lieu of 66).
  • Minimum of one year of experience in the financial services industry and/or sales environment where goals were met or exceeded.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in the investments industry, including investment training and in-depth knowledge of investment products and services.
  • Proven ability to engage with and influence others.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly build trust and credibility.
  • Proficiency in assessing needs and recommending appropriate solutions/interventions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a team and with key partners.
  • Strong listening, probing for clarity and understanding.
  • Goal and results oriented with an entrepreneurial mindset and proven ability to source clients through prospecting and networking.
  • Ability to work in a compensation structure heavily tied to performance.
  • Strong follow‑through skills.
  • Computer and technical literacy; proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

This position is subject to SAFE Act registration requirements. All employees engaged in residential loan mortgage originations must register with the federal registry system and remain in good standing. Failure to obtain or maintain SAFE Act registration may result in immediate termination.

Compensation & Benefits

Shift: 1st shift (United States). Hours per week: 40. Pay: $80,000 – $90,000 annualized salary, variable based on experience, education, and skill set. Formulaic incentive plan eligible with monthly, quarterly, and/or annual incentive opportunities based on performance.
