** Job Summary*
* As the  
** Sous Chef** , you will support the culinary operations within a healthcare food service facility at White Plains Hospital, ensuring high‑quality meal preparation for patients, staff, and visitors. In this role, you will assist with supervising daily food production, overseeing patient meal service, and contributing to menu development that meets both culinary standards and nutritional guidelines. You will help lead the culinary team, support compliance with healthcare dietary requirements, and collaborate closely with the Executive Chef to maintain efficient, safe, and patient‑focused food service operations.

** Key Responsibilities*
* + Assist the Executive Chef with managing food cost controls and monitoring departmental expenditures.

+ Support the planning and development of patient menus, retail menus, and special diet‑appropriate options.

+ Oversee preparation and service of meals for patients, retail operations, and catered events within the facility.

+ Ensure proper execution of catering services for meetings, events, and healthcare functions.

+ Implement new culinary programs in partnership with corporate culinary and marketing teams.

+ Uphold strict standards for food safety, sanitation, regulatory compliance, and patient satisfaction.

+ Provide leadership and direction to hourly culinary staff, fostering a positive and efficient work environment.

** Preferred Qualifications*
* + Associate degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent professional experience.

+ Progressive culinary or kitchen management experience; healthcare or institutional cooking experience highly preferred.

+

Experience with large‑volume or batch cooking operations.

+ Catering experience is a plus.

+ Strong understanding of food service trends, production methods, sanitation practices, food cost controls, and plate presentation.

+ Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and general internet use.

+ Willingness to engage in patient and customer satisfaction initiatives.

+ Serv Safe certification highly desirable.
