The Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health, located in downtown White Plains, is hiring for a Program Coordinator (Substance Abuse Services). Candidates with experience in leading systems/organizations involving NYS Office of Addiction Services (OASAS), NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) are encouraged to apply!

Under general supervision, an incumbent of this position within the Department of Community Mental Health, is responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of behavioral health services in the community, for individuals with alcohol and substance use and/or co-occurring disorders and their families Responsibilities include the development of guidelines and procedures to ensure the provision of community based, strength driven, and linguistically and culturally competent services.

The incumbent will oversee the service and provide consultation and training to service teams and other professionals in the alcohol and substance use programs) and/or co-occurring disorder service systems to provide individualized services to adults and youths and their families and will also demonstrate and participate in providing those services. Direct supervision is exercised over professional and clerical departmental staff.

Responsibilities Include but Not Limited to
  • Develops, implements and coordinates services for individuals with alcohol and substance use issues, and/or co-occurring disorders and their families;
  • Reviews program expenditures and contractual compliance with programmatic goals and objectives;
  • Assists in the development of solutions to program management issues at contract agencies;
  • Plans, coordinates and evaluates the work of assigned professional and clerical staff to include management of data collection activities necessary for substance abuse treatment and substance abuse prevention and co-occurring initiatives;
  • Reviews treatment/prevention expansion or enhancement proposals and determines their viability relative to overall strategy, available resources and guidelines set by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (NYS OASAS);
  • Participates in the department’s preparation of the Annual Local Government Consolidated Plan for Alcohol/Substance Abuse Services in Westchester County; in the planning and redesign of the alcohol and substance use and co-occurring treatment, prevention and recovery system;
  • Attends meetings, conferences, and seminars as required;
  • Uses computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments;
  • May perform other incidental tasks, as needed.
Requirements

Master’s degree
* in a mental health clinical discipline, alcohol and substance use and/or mental health administration, health care administration, public administration, social work, or a closely related field, and four years of supervisory or administrative experience where a primary function was in the provision or coordination of alcohol and substance use, mental health and/or co-occurring services for clients in need.

* Must possess a valid Driver's license.

Prior experience with NYS OASAS, OMH and/or County systems and policies preferred COME JOIN OUR TEAM!
