Location: City of White Plains

Position Summary

Under the direction of the radiology administrator or designee, the employee is responsible for communication, registration, and scheduling for various radiology procedures. The employee performs all phases of clerical duties, including receiving and logging patient information, scheduling, filing, typing, transport, answering phones, and providing backup assistance as needed in the radiology department.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors
  • Abides by scheduling policy
  • Notifies floors or radiology staff of any planned schedule change
  • Works in case of emergencies or when situations arise; available for holiday, overtime, and shift coverage
  • Maintains cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and accessories; reports malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med or supervisor
  • Prints CDs when needed
  • Performs routine office duties, such as answering phones, documenting patient requests in Meditec or hospital RIS system, and managing PAC’s digital X‑ray system
  • Notifies transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to floors
  • Might be assigned as an instructor or preceptor
  • Provides care knowledge and skill appropriate to patient populations: neonate/newborn, pediatric/adolescent, adults, and geriatric groups
  • Performs other related duties as required; attends staff meetings and in‑services
  • Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the department or hospital
  • Prioritizes and organizes own workload and routine administrative matters to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Coordinates follow‑up of all customer service and satisfaction matters as directed
  • Informs supervisor if office or clinical supplies are needed
Education & Experience Requirements
  • High school Diploma/GED required
  • General knowledge of typing, computer skills, and medical terminology
  • Highly motivated, positive person with strong communication and organizational skills

  • Communicates with physicians and other hospital employees regarding requests for information and assists physicians with basic chart completion procedures
  • Views and prints microfilm records
  • Retrieves paper reports/documents from nursing departments/units 10% of the time
