Linux System Engineer

We are seeking a Systems Engineer who is a dedicated and detailed troubleshooter. This role is built for a technical detective who excels at managing complex, high-concurrency Linux infrastructures, bridging application environments, and ensuring the stability of critical data feeds. You will be part of a team that builds and maintains a highly available server fleet, managing Ubuntu and RHEL environments supporting thousands of concurrent remote sessions.

• Fleet Management
  :
  Maintain and optimize a mixed environment of Ubuntu and RHEL servers, ensuring high availability for thousands of concurrent user connections.
• Connectivity Orchestration: Manage the secure handoff between RDP gateways and backend SSH environments.
• Traffic Management
  :
  Configure and tune Nginx as a high-performance reverse proxy and load balancer to handle peak traffic loads.
• Kernel & Network Tuning
  :
  Proactively monitor and tune the Linux networking stack (TCP/IP limits, file descriptors, and socket buffers) to prevent bottlenecks in a high-density session environment.
• Post-Deployment Engineering
  :
  Troubleshoot .NET Core applications and identify system-level bottlenecks.
• Runtime Diagnostics
  :
  Troubleshoot application crashes, memory pressure, and threading issues within the Linux environment to ensure software performs reliably at scale.

• Inbound Processing
  :
  Manage and troubleshoot data ingestion from multiple external systems.
• Outbound Replication
  :
  Monitor and maintain data feed replication from Linux-based systems to Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Feed Reliability
  :
  Monitor and maintain the integrity of automated ETL scripts, ensuring data lands accurately and on time across heterogeneous systems.

• Communication Flows
  :
  Manage Postfix mail queues for transactional messaging and internal relays.
• Print Management
  :
  Support enterprise-scale printing via CUPS, troubleshooting driver conflicts and spooling issues across a distributed network.
• System Hardening
  :
  Apply security best practices to both Ubuntu and RHEL fleets, utilizing SELinux, App Armor, and firewall configurations to ensure a "Defense in Depth" posture.
• Access Control
  :
  Harden SSH configurations and entry points to protect against lateral movement.
• Automation Roadmap
  :
  Contribute to the transition from manual administration to Ansible, building playbooks that standardize configurations, patching, and security audits.
• File Integrity Monitoring
  :
  Coordinate with the security team ensuring compliance with standards and requirements.

• Cross-Team Alignment
  :
  Actively participate in technical syncs with Project Managers and Developers to represent infrastructure interests during the product roadmap phase.
• Change Management
  :
  Consult on the deployment of updates and hotfixes, enforcing rigid adherence to best practices to minimize user impact.
• Feedback Loop
  :
  Provide developers with production-level telemetry to help them optimize code before it reaches the fleet.

• Performance Baselines
  :
  Define and maintain telemetry baselines for critical infrastructure to proactively identify performance degradation before it impacts users.
• Infrastructure Health
  :
  Monitor kernel-level metrics, system resource utilization, and high-concurrency traffic patterns across Ubuntu/RHEL fleets.
• Application Performance Monitoring
  :
  Track .NET Core runtime metrics and memory pressure, integrating system-level data with application diagnostics to resolve bottlenecks.
• Data Pipeline Visibility
  :
  Monitor the health and latency of ETL data ingestion and SQL Server replication feeds to ensure data integrity.
