We are seeking a dynamic leader to have an on-site presence, manage daily operations and foster a welcoming environment at Lifting Up Westchester's Community Central, where we support people struggling to meet basic needs such as food, socialization, access to health services, and a safe place to sleep.
We are open to guests from 8:45 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and offer meals, programs and supportive services. If you have strong organizational skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and have a warm, respectful approach, we want to hear from you!
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:- Ensure a warm, welcoming, environment.
- Daily operations of Community Central including logistics, vendor and community partner relations.
- Supervise staff (cook, kitchen coordinator, program specialist), interns and volunteers.
- Oversee food services including designing menus, ensuring kitchen and food safety, taking inventory, and managing food orders/deliveries. This includes food orders and inventory for LUW shelters.
- Collaborate with LUW's volunteer coordinator to recruit and ensure sufficient volunteer support.
- Train volunteers and coordinate volunteer schedules to ensure appropriate coverage.
- Develop monthly calendar of afternoon programs & services based on Community Central client needs and interests.
- Establish relationships with existing partners who provide such services and Identify new resources in Westchester County for potential collaboration
- Track data, outcomes and expenses; responsible for funder reporting requirements.
- Facilitate team meetings to discuss processes and procedures, problem-solve and build an effective team.
- Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in human services, management or developing community programs.
- Bachelor's degree in non-profit management, education, public relations health or human services or other related degree.
- Supervisory experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills; willingness to receive trauma-informed training.
- Strong team approach.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Solid computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point and data entry required.
- Experience working with people who are experiencing homelessness (preferred).
- Bilingual in English & Spanish languages (desired but not required).
- Valid NYS driver's license.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
