Clinical Coordinator – Registered Nurse (Pediatric Allergy & Immunology)

Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Registered Nurse to serve as a Clinical Coordinator III within a dynamic Pediatric Allergy & Immunology practice. Reporting to nursing leadership, this role partners closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The Clinical Coordinator plays an integral role in clinical operations, care coordination, patient education, and specialty testing while helping to drive positive health outcomes for children and families.

This position is ideal for a highly skilled RN who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about advancing pediatric specialty care.

Key Responsibilities Clinical Care & Coordination
  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and accurately document clinical findings in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Collaborate with providers and the broader care team to develop and implement individualized care plans across care settings, including outpatient, inpatient, home, school, and specialty facilities.
  • Administer medications, immunizations, allergy injections, biologics, and other prescribed therapies.
  • Support medication reconciliation, prescription renewals, and prior authorization processes.
  • Coordinate diagnostic services such as laboratory testing and imaging; review and appropriately elevate results.
  • Deliver direct patient triage via phone, secure messaging platforms, and in-person visits to address symptoms and urgent concerns.
  • Respond effectively to emergent clinical situations within scope of practice.
Specialty Practice Functions
  • Perform and support office-based allergy and immunology procedures, including patch testing, spirometry, allergy skin testing, and supervised food or drug challenges.
  • Prepare and manage allergen immunotherapy serum, ensuring accurate mixing, storage, and administration.
  • Facilitate order entry for provider review in alignment with established clinical protocols.
  • Complete school, employment, and other health-related documentation for provider authorization.
  • Maintain accurate immunization records and health maintenance documentation.
Operational & Quality Support
  • Promote adherence to infection prevention standards and clinical best practices.
  • Oversee medication and vaccine inventory management, including storage compliance and supply audits.
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at improving care quality, closing health gaps, and enhancing the patient experience.
  • Travel between clinical locations as needed to support workflow optimization, staff education, or process review.
  • Serve on departmental committees, task forces, or improvement work groups.
Leadership & Professional Development
  • Contribute to recruitment efforts for clinical team members.
  • Provide onboarding support, mentorship, and competency validation for medical assistants, LPNs, and RNs.
  • Act as a clinical resource and role model, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent combination of education and clinical experience.
  • Minimum of four years of relevant nursing experience.
  • Active and unrestricted New York State Registered Nurse license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required;
    Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification preferred.
  • Experience in a physician practice setting preferred.
  • Pediatric nursing background strongly preferred; prior experience in pediatric allergy and immunology highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records and standard business software applications.
  • Strong clinical judgment, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and interdisciplinary colleagues.
  • Skilled in managing high-pressure situations with professionalism and composure.
  • Commitment to patient privacy, regulatory compliance, and ongoing professional education.
  • Willingness to travel between practice sites and participate in required clinical and systems training.
