This is a full-time opportunity for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive psychiatric care across inpatient and outpatient hospital settings. The role involves managing acute and chronic psychiatric conditions in medically complex populations while working collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary care teams in a fast-paced clinical environment. The ideal candidate delivers high-quality, patient-centered psychiatric services with strong clinical judgment and professionalism.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
- Perform ongoing psychiatric management including medication initiation, titration, and monitoring
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
- Manage acute psychiatric presentations including mood disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, and substance use disorders
- Participate in daily inpatient rounds and multidisciplinary treatment planning
- Provide crisis intervention, suicide risk assessments, and safety planning
- Coordinate care transitions including discharge planning and outpatient follow-up
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, hospitalists, social workers, therapists, and nursing staff
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and medications
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical meetings
- Active and unrestricted state Nurse Practitioner license
- Demonstrated inpatient and outpatient psychiatric clinical experience
- Strong diagnostic, assessment, and psychopharmacology skills
- Ability to work independently in hospital-based environments
- Excellent communication, clinical judgment, and documentation skills
- Experience working with adult and geriatric populations
- Familiarity with hospital EMR systems and acute care workflows
- Experience managing patients with complex psychiatric and medical comorbidities
