Job Summary

The WPHPA Float Registered Nurse provides direct and indirect nursing care across multiple ambulatory practice locations and specialties within White Plains Hospital Physician Associates (WPHPA). The Registered Nurse collaborates with patients, family/significant others, physicians, advanced practice providers, peers, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The WPHPA Float Registered Nurse assesses patient needs, plans care, implements and evaluates nursing interventions, and supports medical treatment plans in accordance with WPHPA policies, procedures, standards of practice, and regulatory requirements.

The Float Registered Nurse demonstrates flexibility, leadership, accountability, professionalism, and a commitment to continuous learning while supporting multiple practice settings and patient populations.

• Understands and adheres to WPH Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
• Utilizes the nursing process to meet age-specific patient needs in all aspects of ambulatory care, including biophysical, psychosocial, educational, and safety considerations.
• Performs patient assessments, obtains health histories, reconciles medications, and documents findings accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Assists providers with examinations, office-based procedures, treatments, and diagnostic testing as appropriate.
• Administers medications, immunizations, injections, intravenous therapies, and treatments in accordance with organizational policies and scope of practice.
• Provides patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, procedures, disease management, preventive care, and follow-up plans.
• Coordinates care among providers, specialists, diagnostic services, community resources, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Utilizes clinical judgment and prioritization skills to address patient care concerns and operational issues appropriately.
• Collaborates and communicates effectively with patients, providers, practice staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Integrates patient rights, patient-centered care principles, and nursing ethics into daily practice.
• Adheres to infection prevention and control standards to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections.
• Adheres to applicable patient safety standards and organizational quality initiatives.
• Delegates clinical activities in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act and organizational policy.
• Adheres to the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and the Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice.
• Supports, promotes, and practices within the WPH Professional Nursing Practice Model.
• Supports organizational quality improvement, patient experience, and population health initiatives.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and practice-based quality projects.
• Completes required competencies and annual education requirements.
• Attends mandatory education sessions, staff meetings, and department meetings as required.
• Utilizes cost-conscious practices and organizational resources responsibly.
• Provides nursing support across multiple WPHPA practice locations and specialties based on operational needs.
• Serves as a clinical resource and role model for staff and team members.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• BSN
• Current NYS RN license
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
• Knowledge of current nursing, medical, and healthcare trends and practices related to ambulatory and outpatient care.
• Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience preferred.
• Ambulatory care, physician practice, outpatient procedural, care coordination, or specialty practice experience preferred.
• Specialty certification encouraged and supported.
• Successful completion of WPHPA orientation and department-specific onboarding requirements.
