Location: City of White Plains

This is a senior, well-compensated position for a highly experienced individual seeking to empower consumer health decision-making with nutraceutical products within an established and respected company. The successful candidate will be hired in early 2027 to train with the current, retiring position holder. This position is hybrid, with regular work required at Consumer Lab’s Research Office in the New York/New Jersey Metro area.

Position Summary:

’s Vice President for Dietary Supplements & Food Analysis reports directly to the President and oversees the Senior Research Manager and Purchasing Manager. This position also interacts with editorial, business development, and customer service personnel.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of the applications and limitations of all types of chromatography and spectroscopy, including all phases of HPLC, i.e., reversed phase, normal phase, affinity, and size exclusion chromatography, HPTLC, GC, mass spectrometry including ionization techniques, i.e., TOF, MALDI and ICP-MS, dissolution, disintegration, UV-VIS, AA, FTIR and in vitro cellular and tissue assays.

Extensive experience with dietary supplement and food nutrient methodologies, including USP-NF, DSC, AOAC, ASOC, ICH and GOED, as well as peer-reviewed published methods.

Knowledge of dietary supplement regulations, including 21 CFR Part 111 and FDA labeling requirements for food and dietary supplements. Knowledge of EFSA and Canadian food and supplement regulations is a plus.

Excellent work ethic, communication skills, dependable, reliable, flexible, and adaptable with exceptional follow-through. Adept at researching, troubleshooting, analyzing, and problem-solving. Interpersonal relationships with testing laboratories, finished product manufacturers, and raw material suppliers are extremely helpful. Keep up with trends in the dietary supplement and nutritional industry to suggest possible future reviews. A doctoral degree in pharmacology, toxicology, or a nutrition-related field is required.

Responsibilities:

Review specifications:

Reviewing and writing specifications for Consumer Lab’s Product Reviews, including testing parameters, appropriate methodologies to be used, upper acceptable levels, and minimum expected levels derived from literature. Include specifications for the analysis of possible adulterants.

Review of products:

Pre-review of labels of individual products designated for a specific review in Product Reviews and Consumer Lab’s voluntary Quality Certification Program. Review the product’s primary and secondary ingredients for possible issues they may pose for analysis. Interact with the Purchasing Manager to determine the adequate sampling of products to purchase, shipping, and timing of each review.

Review testing and reporting:

Determine the specific testing parameters and appropriate testing methodologies for specific types of dietary supplements and foods. Identify, carefully assess and contract laboratories including review of testing specifications, methodology, pricing, and turnaround time. Review all test results with the Senior Research Manager and assess conformance with label information. Review, edit, and quality check the data tables and graphs produced for product reviews and present to the Consumer Lab editorial team.

Participate in the review and editing of product reviews. Write and/or edit a “How Products Were Evaluated” for each product category derived from the review specifications and present to the editorial team. Write summary reports for all products tested through the Consumer Lab's voluntary Quality Certification Program.

Scientific interaction:

Respond to inquiries regarding test results from industry, academia, the public, the media, and other parties.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must have at least 10 years experience in analytical testing of dietary supplements and/or food products.
  • Must hold a doctorate degree relating to analytical testing.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).

Compensation:

$150,000 to $220,000, depending on experience, plus a performance-based discretionary bonus up to 20%, 401(k) and profit-sharing plan with company contributions, and health insurance benefits.
