Summary

The Driver plays an important role in supporting the daily lives of our residents by providing safe, reliable, timely, and courteous transportation to appointments, outings, activities, and other destinations throughout White Plains and the surrounding area.

The Driver is responsible for coordinating and managing the transportation schedule while ensuring residents, families, and team members receive exceptional service and support.

Duties and Responsibilities

Safely and lawfully operates company vehicles authorized to transport residents, families, and team members. Personal vehicles are not to be used to transport residents on company business.

Understands how to safely and properly operate each assigned vehicle and its associated equipment.

Completes required vehicle and transportation logs, identifies maintenance concerns, and assists with ensuring preventative maintenance is completed as required.

Helps manage the resident transportation schedule and coordinates closely with the Concierge, Life Enrichment, Care Partner, Nursing, and other community teams to ensure transportation needs are met in a timely manner.

Provides patient, compassionate, and respectful assistance to residents throughout the transportation process.

Assists residents with mobility, entering and exiting vehicles, and transfers as appropriate and within the responsibilities of the position.

Maintains company vehicles in a clean, professional, and welcoming condition, both inside and outside.

Completes required safety checks before operating company vehicles, including checking turn signals, brake lights, headlights, windshield wipers, horn, seat belts, and other safety equipment.

Develops familiarity with White Plains and surrounding Westchester County roads, destinations, traffic patterns, hospitals, medical offices, and other frequently visited locations to provide efficient transportation.

Serves as an ambassador for The Kensington White Plains while driving and interacting with residents, families, medical offices, community partners, and members of the public.

Demonstrates courteous, patient, defensive, and non-aggressive driving practices at all times.

Maintains a driving record that meets company requirements.

Participates in required training, meetings, and professional development activities.

Supports other transportation and community-related responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

Ability to provide exceptional customer service to residents, families, team members, and community partners.

Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.

Strong time-management and organizational skills.

Demonstrated safe and defensive driving abilities.

Ability to safely operate vehicle lift and accessibility equipment.

Ability to appropriately assist residents with mobility and transfers to and from vehicles.

Ability to remain patient, calm, professional, and positive when schedules or transportation needs change.

Familiarity with White Plains and the surrounding Westchester County area is preferred.

Qualifications

Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with individuals of varying ages and abilities while demonstrating respect, patience, and sensitivity.
