Systems Engineer, Operations Manager
Job Description
We are seeking a Systems Engineering Manager (Specialty Engineering) to lead the Aeronautics Specialty Engineering team, driving centralized specialty engineering practices.
What You Will Be DoingAs the manager you will lead the implementation and execution of Centralized Specialty Engineering practices, including Affordability Engineering, Exportability Control Compliance, and Exportability and Disclosure Policy across all Aeronautics Lines of Business.
- Lead the execution of Affordability Engineering, Exportability Control Compliance, and related policy initiatives.
- Direct Earned Value Management System strategy, engineering processes, technical personnel, and tooling to ensure efficient operations.
- Oversee functional management duties such as performance assessments, career development, merit and salary actions, and training‑plan creation.
- Manage staffing activities—including resource forecasting, recruitment, selection of experienced professionals, contractors, college hires, and interns.
- Cultivate a dynamic, accountable work environment that aligns technical strategy with Aeronautics Line of Business objectives.

Location:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Experience leading teams, projects, or cross‑functional efforts
- Experience working with technical systems in aerospace and/or defense environments
- Master's degree in Engineering and/or MBA
- Formal leadership and/or personnel management experience
- Earned Value Management System (EVMS) training and experience
- Strong communication, presentation, and collaborative relationship building
- Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills in dynamic environments
- Experience communicating technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Technical problem‑solving and analytical skills

Compensation & BenefitsAnnual base salary ranges:
California, Massachusetts, New York, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC – $128,400 to $226,435. Other states – salary to reflect final work location. Comprehensive benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short‑Term Disability, Long‑Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, Employee Assistance Program, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid Time Off, and Holidays.
