Primary PurposeAssists school districts with accounting/financial functions, maintains a positive working relationship with clients, meets deadlines, and ensures accurate information.

Education / Certification- Bachelor’s degree in a business or accounting field preferred, or 5 years equivalent experience.
- TASBO Certification preferred.
- Financial software knowledge of Ascender, Skyward, etc.
- Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
- Team-oriented attitude and desire to work collaboratively with ESC staff, campus/district/charter school personnel.
- Advanced technical knowledge of school finance and budgeting.
- Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal requirements relating to financial issues and reports.
- Working knowledge of financial applications and accounting.
- Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis, and word processing.
- Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data.
- Five years of school accounting experience.
- Actively participate in and/or provide support for inter-departmental teams to help improve student performance in the region, improve the ESC’s internal operations, and meet the established goals and objectives for the ESC.
- Process and provide technical assistance to the assigned districts/charter schools in the areas of budgeting, accounts receivable, purchase orders, vendor payments, accounts payable, drawdowns, etc.
- Process all aspects of month and year-end.
- Process and prepare monthly financial and board reports for assigned districts/charter schools.
- Provide support to the staff of the assigned district/charter schools in the area of school accounting.
- Monitor assigned districts/charter schools' general ledger for accuracy.
- Reconcile bank statements and federal, state, and property tax revenue on a monthly basis.
- Develop financial information for reporting purposes, including federal fund reporting.
- Responsible for verification of all financial-related PEIMS files and submissions.
- Provide technical assistance in understanding financial reports and accounting issues.
- Support payroll personnel in accounting issues.
- Maintain a continuous auditing program for all funds and assist the district/charter independent auditor in conducting the annual or periodic audit.
- Assist assigned districts/charter schools in budget projections during the year and address any budget amendments that may need to be proposed to their respective boards for approval.
- Process data entry as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions- Mental: Public relations and people skills are always required, work with frequent interruptions, and maintain professional composure and confidentiality under stress.
- Physical: Occasional prolonged and irregular hours, ability to move tables and chairs and load/unload boxes and materials. Prolonged use of a computer. Frequent region and state-wide travel.
- Environmental: Open cubicles/workstations.
Annual performance evaluation will be performed in accordance with the adopted policies of the Education Service Center Region 11. Employment in this position is contingent upon performance, need, and funding.
