Your Responsibilities
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments as defined by state regulations in accordance with approved techniques and notes time and amount on resident’s chart.
  • Deliver routine daily medications as prescribed by physician to residents; pass resident medications in accordance with physician orders and as stated on the Medication Administration Record (MAR).
  • Verifies identity of resident receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms and records;
    Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered and reports to nursing supervisor.
  • Present medication to residents and observe ingestion or other application, or administers medication, using specified procedures.
  • Document completion of tasks delivered on a daily basis;
    Document any observed change of condition in accordance with local rules and regulations.
  • Communicate between Med Techs/Med Aides about resident needs for consistent quality services.
  • Participate in meal service including serving, clearing, and cleaning the dining room;
    Assures that residents are positioned appropriately for meals;
    Assures that appropriate utensils are within reach of residents;
    Serves food trays and assists with feeding as indicated;
    Delivers and documents all a.m., p.m., and bedtime snacks and supplements;
    Provides hydration to all residents according to center policy.
  • Responsible for knowledge of proper procedures to provide personal care services to residents; provide requested personal care services to residents.
  • Observes resident, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies Nurse Supervisor or Physician of resident’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments and significant incidents.
  • Records and restocks medication inventories.
  • Prepares equipment and aids nurses during treatments and examination of residents.
  • Checks residents in section regularly;
    Answers call light promptly;
    Follows through with resident problems or needs by delivering care or reporting to supervisor depending upon level of ability and nature of resident need.
  • Provides residents’ personal hygiene by giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves; assisting with travel to the bathroom; helping with showers and baths.
  • Provides resident comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting residents; answering resident’s call lights and request; reporting observation of the resident to nursing supervisor.
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
Qualifications
  • Certified in the state of practice, required.
  • Successful completion of State Approved Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program;
    Name must appear on State Registry as Nurse Aide in good standing.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification (All SNFs; ALFs as required by state).
