Job Summary

The Bakery Associate is responsible for delivering “best in class” customer service to all guests at the bakery counter and on the sales floor. In addition to serving as a barista by preparing high-quality coffee and specialty coffee drinks for guests, the Bakery Associate is responsible for packaging, pricing, and labeling bakery products for the case and the sales floor, ensuring shelves are stocked and rotated and the department is clean and well organized.

Work Experience Duties / Responsibilities
  • Serve customers in the Bakery Department while modeling Sendik’s culture and providing “best in class” customer service, which includes greeting, engaging, delighting and thanking every guest for their business.
  • Answer questions regarding bakery/coffee products and ingredients.
  • Provide an exceptional coffee experience.
  • Prepare all coffee and specialty coffee to the highest quality standards.
  • Assist with maintaining the back cooler including rotating stock, dating and cleaning.
  • Operate, maintain and clean coffee equipment.
  • Maintain sanitation and temperature logs as needed.
  • Assist customers in selecting bakery/coffee products and offer suggestions as needed.
  • Fill and maintain the bakery case.
  • Package, price and label items for the sales floor.
  • Stock and rotate bakery products on the sales floor.
  • Take and fulfill bakery orders via phone and in person.
  • Complete daily cleaning duties in the Bakery Department.
  • Assist Bakers with pouring batter, panning bakery items and preparing product for baking as needed.
  • Assist with the training and mentoring of new associates in the Bakery Department.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures.
  • Assist with all other Bakery Department duties as needed.
  • Accurately and efficiently check out customer orders; including accurate cash-handling.
Qualifications
  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age due to required operation of bakery/coffee equipment.
  • Eagerness to interact with customers.
  • Strong sense of team – ability to anticipate the needs of the team.
  • Ability to work at a fast paced and efficient manner.
  • Ability to take initiative and make decisions independently regarding department needs and priorities, under general supervision.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and organization skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, push/pull for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
