Division OverviewMotor Vehicle Division (MVD) of the Montana DOJ is responsible for licensing, registering and regulating motoring activities, promoting safety and serving Montana citizens.
Job OverviewThe Customer Service Assistant works closely with business partners and state agencies to manage vehicle titling transactions, maintain temporary registration permit error queues, coordinate training and meetings, review and respond to customer inquiries, assist with national titling system status, verify and merge vehicle and customer records, and provide responses to national motor vehicle surveys. The role requires a courteous in-person and phone demeanor, understanding of public policy, and regulations.
Responsibilities- Assist partners with vehicle titling transactions and scanning processes.
- Manage temporary registration permit error queues.
- Coordinate training, meetings, and ad-hoc sessions.
- Review, research, and respond to customer inquiries.
- Assist other state agencies with vehicle processes and national titling system status.
- Verify and merge vehicle and customer records.
- Provide responses to national motor vehicle surveys.
- Capture bureau statistics for legislative responses, management reports and day‑to‑day operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of customer service experience.
- 1 year experience working with computerized data systems.
- 1 year of directly related experience.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be substituted on a case‑by‑case basis.
- Salary: $26.50 per hour.
- Full‑time, regular schedule, day shift.
- Not eligible for telework; requires occasional travel (5% of time).
