POSITION OVERVIEW
Ekalaka Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified and enthusiastic Agricultural teacher for the school year. Applicants must have a valid Montana Educator License with the appropriate endorsement and/or demonstrate the ability to obtain proper certification. Newly hired teachers may qualify for loan forgiveness through the Montana Quality Educator Loan Assistance program (each of our schools is listed as “impacted schools.”)

RESPONSIBILITIES- Plans and develops course of study according to curriculum guidelines of the District and state requirements, tailoring the curriculum for multiple academic ability levels.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the designated locations and times.
- Maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within available resources.
- Develops and presents specific lesson plans using a variety of techniques, including lectures, projects, exhibits, field trips, audio‑visual and library resources, computers, and the Internet.
- Prepares for classes assigned and provides written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate superior.
- Conducts standardized tests in accordance with District policies and law.
- Maintains order in the classroom and, in collaboration with administrative staff, administers discipline when necessary, including extra assignments or detention for misconduct.
- Strives to impart the District’s philosophy of education and instructional goals through instruction and action.
- Prevents incidents by taking necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Evaluates student progress regularly and keeps records of academic performance, attendance, and social acclimation.
- Publishes reports on all aspects of student development for school records and parents, and conducts parent‑teacher conferences on a scheduled and as‑needed basis.
- Collaborates with other teachers and aides for monitoring halls, study periods, and lunchroom.
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board Policy.
- Provides availability to students and parents outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
- Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, professional training seminars, and workshops.
- Co‑operates with staff to plan instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Assists in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Assumes a share of responsibility for co‑curricular activities as assigned.
- Maintains open lines of communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
- Works with the guidance counselor to help students select course of study or college.
- Reports cases of suspected child abuse in accordance with state law.
- Other functions may be required as given or assigned. Only minimum duties are listed.
- Appropriate license and endorsement per state statutes and Board of Public Education rules, or acceptable internship status.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Effective presentation skills and responsiveness to questions from students, parents, staff, and community.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.
- Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities.
- Electronic and technology devices, copier, telephone/voice mail, fax.
- Regularly works inside and outside the school.
- Must meet deadlines under severe time constraints.
- Frequently required to work irregular or extended hours.
- Directly responsible for the safety, well‑being, and work output of students.
- Noise level is usually moderate.
- Requires sitting, walking, standing, twisting at neck and waist, kneeling.
- Close, distance, and depth vision required; must adjust focus.
- Must hear conversations in quiet environments.
- May lift or move up to 20 pounds.
- Rare routine tasks; requires flexibility to shift between tasks.
- Guidance and reinforcement are infrequently available.
- Must manage time constraints and maintain attentiveness.
- Involves social interactions requiring oral and written communication.
Salary and work year according to the current schedule.
EVALUATIONPerformance evaluated at least annually in accordance with provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and Board Policy.
