Assistant​/Associate Professor of Professional Skills​/Practice Management

A College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a dedicated and forward‑thinking faculty member to lead instruction in Professional Skills and Practice Management. This is a unique opportunity to help build a veterinary program from the ground up, contributing to a modern, student‑centered curriculum that prepares graduates for both clinical success and the business realities of veterinary practice.

This role focuses on equipping veterinary students with the professional, communication, and management skills essential for success in today’s veterinary landscape. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty across disciplines to design and deliver curriculum that integrates clinical knowledge with leadership, business acumen, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Faculty will contribute to teaching, mentorship, and curriculum development within the Department of Veterinary Biomedical Sciences.

Responsibilities include:

• Delivering lectures and facilitating small group instruction in professional skills and practice management
• Developing and refining course materials, including assessments and applied learning activities
• Contributing to curriculum design and continuous program improvement
• Mentoring Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and graduate students
• Supporting student development in communication, leadership, and business competencies
• Engaging in research and scholarly activity aligned with expertise (e.g., veterinary practice management, communication, One Health initiatives, veterinary education research)

• Participating in independent and collaborative research projects
• Engaging students in scholarly and applied learning opportunities
• Collaborating with faculty across departments
• Contributing to academic publications and professional development
• Participating in Faculty Senate, departmental meetings, and college or university committees
• Contributing to program development and interdisciplinary collaboration

Annual Salary Range: $149,864 – $196,539 (DOE)

Final compensation will be based on qualifications, experience, education, and academic rank as determined through the institutional review process.

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an accredited institution

• Master of Business Administration (MBA) or related advanced degree (preferred)
• Experience or strong interest in professional skills development and veterinary practice management
• Background in teaching, leadership, or applied veterinary business practices
