BriefPosition Overview
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures maintains an applicant pool for Non‑Tenure Track Instructors in French. Instructors typically teach 1 to 5 language classes per semester. All positions are pending adequate enrollment and funding. This advertisement is for an applicant pool and does not indicate whether or not there are any current openings. Qualified candidates will be contacted when a position opens.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Instructors typically teach 1 to 5 language classes per semester.
- All positions are pending adequate enrollment and funding.
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a foreign university.
- A Master’s degree or equivalent from a foreign university in French or a closely related field, or relevant knowledge and experience appropriate to the position (e.g., superior level proficiency; extensive residence abroad, etc.).
- Proficiency level in French appropriate to the position.
- PhD in French or another relevant discipline.
- Superior level proficiency in French.
- Experience teaching at the college level.
Have effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate successfully and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
PositionSpecial Requirements /Additional Information
The position may be a union position. Union affiliation is determined by job duties and the collective bargaining unit.
Union details: Any position that is 0.5 FTE or more is represented by the Associated Faculty of Montana State University (AFMSU). Faculty covered by AFMSU may choose to pay membership dues. Any position less than 0.5 FTE is not represented by the union and is not required to pay dues. If the FTE changes during employment, the representational status can change.
Exceptions:
Faculty who have completed a PEI exam or those working in Extension are exempt.
