Middle and High School Business Education or Computer Science Teacher

Whitehall Middle and High School is seeking a Business or Computer Science or Technology Education teacher beginning the 26-27 school year. The district has a 4-day school week (no school Fridays). The middle and high school has a 7 period day with teachers instructing 6 periods per day. The  school year starts August 17 and ends the first week of June.

High school elective offerings will be shaped by teacher strengths, student interest, and program needs. Previously, the 6-12 Business/Computer Curriculum has included the following high school courses depending upon the teacher's expertise - Accounting 1, Accounting 2, Personal Finance, Business Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Computer Applications, Multimedia (photo editing, 2D game design, 3D game design, video editing), Microsoft Certification, and Programming with JavaScript.

The district would also consider moving the program in the direction of courses such as computer-aided drafting and manufacturing, robotics, podcasting, multimedia, and/or film.

Middle school topics have also mirrored teacher expertise and include keyboarding, basic word processing, basic spreadsheet skills, using presentation software, basic photo editing, introduction to programming, and introduction to game design.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer appropriate district curriculum which is aligned with the state standards.
  • Ensure the opportunity for all students to learn in a supportive environment.
  • Create and maintain a constructive, orderly, and academically focused instructional environment.
  • Analyze student progress and provide appropriate instruction.
  • Provide a classroom management/discipline plan ensuring safety at all times.
  • Ensure assessment guidelines and regulations are followed at all times.
  • Work professionally with administrators, staff, parents, and community.
  • Integrate appropriate technology as available into the instructional program.
  • Participate in other job‑related duties and activities as assigned.
Position Expectations
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skill, and ability to provide effective instruction in the classroom.
  • Work cooperatively with students, parents, peers, administration, and community members.
  • Guide the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and strategies aligned with instructional objectives, in order to meet the needs of all students.
  • Participate as an active member with other faculty and staff in daily interactions and in professional learning communities (PLC’s).
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Direct the activities of assigned non‑certificated personnel.
  • Communicate effectively both in writing and orally.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned by the principal.
