The Academic Support & Intervention Specialist provides targeted literacy and math intervention for students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade while supporting school-wide systems for student progress monitoring and academic growth.
The role works collaboratively with classroom teachers, families, specialists, and the Director of Education to identify student needs, implement intervention plans, monitor progress, and ensure students receive appropriate support and challenge.
In addition, the Academic Support & Intervention Specialist oversees The Skola's tutoring program, including direct tutoring services, scheduling, family communication, progress monitoring, and summer tutoring operations.
This is a year-round position that combines student intervention, data-driven support, and tutoring program management. A successful candidate will be highly organized, collaborative, and passionate about helping students grow academically while partnering effectively with teachers and families.
Schedule School Year (40 Hours/Week) 25 Hours/Week:School-Based Intervention & Student Support

Tutoring Services & Program Coordination
- Approximately 10 hours/week of direct tutoring services
- Tutoring program coordination, scheduling, communication, and administration
- Provide targeted literacy and math intervention for students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade.
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction based on student needs and goals.
- Support students requiring additional intervention
- Utilize evidence-based instructional practices and intervention strategies.
- Develop and implement intervention plans that align with classroom instruction and student goals.
- Foster student confidence, engagement, and independence through a strengths-based approach.
- Maintain a caseload of students receiving intervention services.
- Conduct ongoing progress monitoring and data collection for students needing intervention
- Maintain accurate records related to intervention goals, student performance, and growth.
- Analyze student data to guide instructional decisions and support planning.
- Prepare progress reports and summaries for teachers, families, and school leadership.
- Collaborate with the Director of Education and Leadership team regarding student outcomes, intervention effectiveness, and school-wide trends.
- Partner closely with homeroom teachers to align intervention goals with classroom instruction.
- Collaboratively identify students requiring support or intervention
- Participate in student support meetings, data discussions, and instructional planning conversations.
- Provide recommendations for accommodations, modifications, intervention strategies, and instructional supports.
- Support implementation of school-wide intervention systems and practices.
- Maintain regular communication with families regarding student goals, progress, and recommendations.
- Partner with families to support learning and growth outside of intervention sessions.
- Participate in family meetings as needed.
- Ensure communication is clear, timely, and supportive.
- Assist with academic screening and assessment of prospective students.
- Collaborate with the Director of Education in reviewing assessment results and determining student support needs.
- Support development and refinement of intervention, assessment, and progress-monitoring systems.
