Housekeeping Supervisor
Under general direction, the Housekeeping Supervisor supports the Housekeeping Manager in overseeing daily operations of the Housekeeping department to ensure guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas are clean, organized, and well maintained. Ensures cleanliness and service standards are consistently met in alignment with brand and Company expectations.
Essential Job Functions- Supervises daily Housekeeping operations including guest rooms, public areas, and laundry.
- Assigns daily tasks, room lists, and keys to team members; ensures all assignments are completed to standard and on time.
- Inspects guest rooms, hallways, and public areas for cleanliness, maintenance, and overall condition; follows up on deficiencies promptly.
- Supports and assists with training new team members in proper cleaning techniques, chemical use, and brand standards.
- Ensures adequate linen and cleaning supply inventory; reports shortages or reordering needs to the Housekeeping Manager.
- Responds promptly and professionally to guest requests and service recovery opportunities.
- Coordinates with Maintenance to report and track room or equipment repairs.
- Maintains accurate records of room status, cleaning schedules, and inspection reports.
- Assists in developing efficient cleaning schedules and ensures adherence to time standards.
- Upholds all health, safety, and sanitation standards; monitors compliance with OSHA and company procedures.
- Supports Lost & Found tracking procedures and guest item handling.
- Coaches team members on performance, attendance, and service excellence; reports concerns to management.
- Performs cleaning duties as needed during peak periods or staffing shortages.
- Attendance is a key component of this position.
- Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with Company standards; wears the appropriate uniform or attire.
- Maintains open and effective communication with team members and management.
- Attends and participates in team meetings.
- Adheres to established safety and emergency procedures and protocols, this includes Company, federal, and state specific regulations and guidelines.
- Completes all required Company training/compliance courses as assigned.
- Adheres to Company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum one (1) year of experience in hotel housekeeping or similar industry.
- No supervisory experience required.
Oversees and coordinates the department's activities, with a focus on supervisory and organizational goals. While a portion of the time may involve performing tasks similar to those of direct reports, the primary responsibilities are related to management and coordination. Analyzes and resolves issues, establishes work methods, ensures regulatory compliance, and maintains productivity. Uses judgment within established procedures and policies to make appropriate decisions and take necessary actions.
Specific supervisory duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Establishes objectives and goals for the team.
- Assigns, monitors, and reviews work; evaluates direct report's performance.
- Recruits and interviews.
- Orientates and trains.
- Proactively assesses risk to establish systems and procedures to protect organizational assets.
- Ensures compliance with safety regulations.
- Ensures accurate and efficient management of inventory.
- This position does not require licenses or certifications.
