Responsibilities
The Freelance Interpreter will provide confidential interpreting services between American Sign Language (ASL) and English language users in-person and/or via video in a variety of settings, including community, medical, mental health, and emergency events.
Qualifications- Active member of Canadian Association of Sign Language Interpreters (CASLI).
- Hold a 3–4-year post-secondary diploma/degree from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 1-year interpreting experience.
- Excellent language fluency in both ASL and ENG, with the ability to match diverse language use of consumers.
- Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivated, extensive understanding of Deaf culture.
- Ability to provide exceptional quality service while maintaining strict confidentiality and following best practices and protocols.
