This position will be filled on a seasonal basis to work for the approximate time period of June 2026 - August 2026.

General PurposePerforms a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of buildings, grounds and parks.
Supervision ReceivedWorks under the supervision of the Parks Foreman.
Supervision ExercisedMay supervise community service workers or temporary employees as required and assigned.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe list of tasks is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by the Parks Maintenance Worker. The following duties are typical for this classification and are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Maintain a consistent and dependable presence during assigned hours of work.
- Orient, train and supervise the work activities of temporary employees and community service workers.
- Assure work is performed in accordance with sound safety practices set forth by the Parks Foreman.
- Assist in the repair and installation of sprinkler lines and heads.
- Assist in Urban Forestry techniques in removal, pruning, planting, care, and treatment of urban trees.
- Perform all functions of parks maintenance at a high level of proficiency.
- Operate all assigned equipment and vehicles to perform any operation within the capacity of the machine as necessary.
- Operate numerous types of equipment such as self-propelled commercial mowers, tractors, loader, dump truck, turf renovation equipment, welder, jack hammer, trencher, backhoe, etc.
- Perform semi-skilled interior and exterior building maintenance such as painting, plumbing, carpentry and electrical work.
- Be flexible to be available for emergency call-outs during off time.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintenance techniques in the care, construction and operation of City Parks systems, including athletic fields, tennis courts, playgrounds, parks, shelters, open spaces and green belts.
- Playground inspection, installation and maintenance.
