Location: North Whitehall Township

Step into a rewarding role as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year, providing vital support across multiple specialized programs in Lehigh and Carbon Counties. This is an Itinerant Substitute assignment where flexibility, adaptability, and a passion for making a difference are key. You will travel between different schools or programs, covering vacancies, supporting leaves of absence, and responding to the needs of a dynamic district.

This opportunity is ideal for educators excited about working with diverse students, including those in Enhanced Autism, MDS Functional, and Emotional Support classrooms. The ability to quickly acclimate to new settings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams is essential.

Qualifications & Desired Experience
  • Active Pennsylvania Special Education certification (required/preferred based on assignment)
  • Proven experience teaching in special education settings
  • Expertise in implementing IEP goals and differentiating instruction
  • Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills
  • Comfortable collaborating with paraprofessionals, therapists, and families
  • Willingness and flexibility to serve at various sites within a 35-minute commute
  • Preferred backgrounds: autism support, emotional support, multiple disabilities, behavioral health, IU/specialized school experience
Responsible For
  • Supporting instruction in multiple specialized programs as assigned
  • Rapidly learning and adapting to new classroom environments and unique student needs
  • Implementing IEPs and individualized behavioral strategies (including ABA and BIPs where applicable)
  • Contributing to adapted curriculum and life skills development
  • Maintaining effective communication with staff, students, and families
