Summary
Noncredit Integrated Education and Training (IET) instructor to deliver instruction for a Start Your Own Business class for ESL students. Instructors report to the Director of Literacy, ESL, and Student Success. This instructor will be teaching a class that includes a customer service certification, setting up a business plan, and having students present their final plan to an audience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Co‑instruct course with an ESL Instructor where students earn a customer service certification, create a business plan and present to an audience
- Maintain student work and hand in samples to the literacy office
- Complete professional development training in accordance with LCCC standards and grant
- Maintain clear records on programs, both for students and for program review
- Plan teaching strategies and activities that are appropriate for adult learners
- Provide linkage for students to progress from one educational program to another
- Aid in meeting special needs of students
- Assist the Student Success Coach in identifying students in need of barrier or transition assistance
- Conduct informal assessments and make recommendations about student’s class placement
- Motivate and encourage students
- Keep current on adult education by attending conferences, professional development trainings, and meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned by the assistant director
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or appropriate field.
- Experience working with a diversity of people in an educational setting.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and to work cooperatively in stressful situations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
