Phlebotomist

Responsibilities

• Assist in determining donor suitability
• Establish rapport with donors to ensure customer happiness while maintaining confidentiality
• Respond to and assist with donor reactions
• Monitor donors and equipment to ensure donor health and product quality
• Set up, disconnect, and operate automated plasmapheresis machines
• Disconnect and dispose of contaminated disposable equipment
• Work in a plasma center providing donor-care and plasma-collection support

• Superior customer service standards
• High School diploma or GED
• Ability to work a flexible schedule
• Interest in making a difference in the world
• Required state licensures or certifications where applicable
• Ability to stand for 6 to 8 hours per day
• Ability to bend and twist neck and waist for 1–2 hours per day
• Frequent hand movement and precise coordinated finger, hand, and wrist movements
• Frequent foot movement; ability to walk up to 6–8 hours per day
• Ability to lift 15 lbs., with a maximum lift of 50 lbs.
• Ability to hear adequately
• Correctable near and far vision
• Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to listen to and understand spoken information
• Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
• Ability to work with biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical equipment, and extreme cold
• Ability to use required personal protective equipment
