Position Overview

This Facilities Engineering Leader will lead the direction and coordination of repair, maintenance, and installation activities within Plant 3, Whitehall Casting Operation.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years' experience in leadership with facilities/maintenance
  • High School Diploma and at least 15 years of supervisory experience in facilities/maintenance
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States (Visa sponsorship not available)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a maintenance department
  • 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience supervising in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a maintenance department
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Experience with TPM, Synchronous Mfg, and Kaizen concepts
  • Strong communication skills at all levels, team building, people skills, multiple task management, technical orientation
  • Previous experience in facility maintenance and basic understanding of industrial plant infrastructure (air handling equipment, air compressors, chillers, cooling towers, etc.)
  • General understanding of construction, maintenance and fabrication methods
  • Energetic, self‑starter, promotion of change, good PC skills, telephone skills, strong organizational skills, continuous improvement atmosphere
Job Responsibilities
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to manage the plant and equipment infrastructure
  • Lead by example that safety is a way of life
  • Lead and manage the Maintenance and Facilities Engineering departments
  • Drive asset utilization: shorten cycles, minimize downtime, keep equipment running (utilize 8 pillars of TPM)
  • Minimize unplanned equipment downtime and maximize reliability using TPM and Lean initiatives
  • Ensure Facilities Engineering metrics are tracked toward objectives
  • Establish project goals and lead group effort to complete projects
  • Manage the maintenance and repair budget
  • Contribute to cross‑functional continuous improvement initiatives for safety, on‑time delivery, production efficiency, and scrap reduction
  • Develop department capabilities through teaching, coaching, high standards, accountability
  • Promote an engaged and energized workforce on the plant floor
  • Advise on capital and major expense matters; review and edit asset requests (RFA) and author those pertaining to the facility
  • Manage ASAT
  • Represent Howmet at community planning boards
  • Daily parts management and expediting
  • Troubleshoot equipment, sense of urgency
  • Daily review of PM equipment states with team
  • Conduct ASAT audits and improvements

  • Advise based on observation and data, contribute to continuous improvement, root cause discovery
  • Create and execute collaborative timelines, hold stakeholders accountable, anticipate disruptions
  • Co‑mentor and manage others, develop talent, provide direction, recognition, risk encouragement
