- Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability
- Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
- Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
- Inform donors about potential hazards
- Provide donor education regarding general health
- Counsel donors regarding unacceptable test results
- Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
- Evaluate histories of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
- Assist in employee training
- Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
- Current CPR certification required
- Ability to stand and sit for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Ability to bend and twist the neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
- Frequent hand, finger, wrist, and foot movement
- Ability to make precise coordinated movements to grasp and manipulate objects
- Ability to squat, crouch, sit on one's heels, walk, bend, and twist at the waist
- Ability to lift 15 lbs., with a maximum lift of 50 lbs.
- Hearing acuity essential
- Correctable near and far vision; specified visual acuity requirements
- Ability to communicate, listen to, and understand information presented through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform a wide range of tasks under variable demands and changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical office and laboratory equipment, and extreme cold below 32 degrees F
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold-gear
Demonstrates expertise in performing physical examinations, evaluating donor suitability, and providing education on health and safety. Proficient in managing donor care and ensuring compliance with health regulations in a plasma center environment.
