SECURITY SPECIALIST – US Defense Finance and Accounting Service
Role:
Develop, evaluate, and maintain security systems, policies, devices, procedures, and methods to safeguard personnel, information, property, operations, and materials at the DFAS Central Site.
Telework availability is limited and will only be provided on a case‑by‑case basis. The position is suitable for federal employment and requires U.S. citizenship.
DUTIES- Manage comprehensive program in development, evaluation, and maintenance of security automated systems, policies, devices, procedures, and methods.
- Plan and implement security policies and procedures for the Central Site.
- Provide guidance to functional managers on annual risk assessments related to security matters, review investigative reports, develop personnel security program guidelines, and submit reports.
- Conduct inspections of security operations at the DFAS Central Site and assist in security training and instruction programs.
- Provide management training on personnel risk assessment and implement policy and procedures regarding Antiterrorism and Force Protection (AT/FP) requirements.
One year of specialized experience at the next lower federal grade level that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties listed above. Specialized experience includes applying broad security concepts to assess and resolve complex security problems and using related technical expertise to implement and administer security programs in coordination with other specialized programs.
Volunteer experience from national service or community programs will also be considered for credit.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTIONThree full years of progressively higher‑level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree may substitute for specialized experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION- Moving expense will not be paid.
- Position covered by a bargaining unit and exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act.

PAY & GRADATIONGS‑11 salary range: $77,154 to $100,295 per year.
