THE ROLE
Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, the Legal Counsel advises and supports the organization on human relations and labor law matters, legal compliance, and litigation prevention. A true trusted partner, he/she actively contributes to the implementation of the Code of Ethics and internal policies while supporting internal and external communication initiatives, media relations, and sustainability projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Advise management and HR on labor and employment law issues (terminations, standards, OHS, harassment, discrimination, interpretation of collective agreements, etc.).
- Draft and negotiate contracts, HR policies, and settlement agreements, ensuring legal compliance.
- Ensure the application of the Code of Ethics and related regulations.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of internal policies and procedures.
- Produce clear and relevant legal opinions and documents.
- Raise awareness among teams about legal and ethical obligations.
- Monitor regulations and ensure compliance of internal practices.
- Act as a resource person for external lawyers and participate in investigations.
- Collaborate on internal and external communication initiatives, media relations, and sustainability projects.
- Member of the Quebec Bar.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in labor and employment law.
- Bilingual in French and English, both verbal and written.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, autonomy, judgment, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and act as an agent of change.
