Fisheries Biologist
Trinity Consultants Canada, a leading environmental consultancy, is seeking a dedicated Fisheries Biologist to join our Water & Ecology team. In this role you will support clients in meeting regulatory requirements while safeguarding aquatic ecosystems.
Responsibilities- Plan and execute environmental studies, including fish, aquatic, wildlife, and habitat assessments.
- Conduct fieldwork in various settings, including remote locations, and operate specialized monitoring equipment.
- Analyze environmental data and prepare technical reports and regulatory documentation.
- Support project management and maintain direct communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide expertise in fish and fish habitat science.
- Provide strategic support and advise clients to help them achieve their project goals while balancing environmental protection.
- Advanced degree in biology, aquatic science, or related field.
- R.P.Bio. certification or eligibility.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience within the environmental sector.
- Strong fish and fish habitat background related to infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with YESAA and Fisheries Act project submissions and review processes.
- Proven experience completing Fisheries Act Authorization applications and designing habitat offsetting plans.
- Experience in vegetation surveys and assessments (particularly wetlands) is a strong asset.
- Excellent track record for strong client relations.
- Effective analytical, technical editing, and review skills, with the ability to manage data, projects, and ensure delivery of high‑quality reports and proposals.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and multi‑tasking skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality, excellence, and ethics.
- Proficiency in field equipment (e.g., flow meters, water quality instruments, fisheries tools); CABIN certification, bird s, and nest sweep skills are considered assets.
- Willingness and ability to work safely in remote locations for extended field trips.
- Valid Canadian driver’s license with a clean driving record.
