Join the Government of Yukon as an Automotive Mechanic in Whitehorse. This full-time, term position encompasses servicing a range of automotive vehicles and small engines in a supportive team environment.

The role is vital for the Transportation Maintenance Garage Ops Shop, focusing on diagnosing and repairing both gas and diesel vehicles along with equipment like chainsaws and generators. Responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting various small engines, making it essential to have strong knowledge in these areas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and service light and medium-duty vehicles

• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs

• Troubleshoot small engines and assorted equipment

• Work outdoors and lift heavy objects as needed

• Guide and mentor apprentice mechanics

Requirements:

• Commercial Vehicle Inspection certificate (within 6 months)

• Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent

• WHMIS certification (obtain within 1 month)

• Adaptable to changing priorities and conditions

• Strong safety and service orientation
