We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Technician - Field to join our Service team in Whitehorse, Yukon.

Salary

Salary range: $52.74 per hour.

What’s the challenge?

As our Heavy Equipment Technician
, you’ll play an integral role in performing major diagnostics and major repairs and servicing all equipment in the fleet with minimal supervision. You are responsible for providing the highest quality of service and for complying with the company’s established policies and procedures. This position will be responsible for developing and coaching apprentices.

Experience Required
  • Red Seal or Journeyperson Technician Certification
  • 2–5 years related experience
  • Solid knowledge of equipment systems and repairs
  • Good communications skills with peers and supervisors
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications
  • Committed to continuous learning
  • Strong technical background and capable of communicating with technicians and customers regarding parts and service
  • Health & Safety Knowledge – OH&S rules and regulations guidelines
Education Required
  • Heavy Equipment Technician Red Seal certification

You’ll be proficient in diagnostic tools, accessing product information, and providing timely solutions with minimal assistance. You will thrive on troubleshooting and be able to read system diagrams.

Keeping Your Cool
. You may work under pressure in remote areas with limited technical support or in extreme weather. This can be a physical job with heavy lifting and carrying. Hours may be long during busy cycles and overtime may be required. Vacation time is provided and encouraged.

Relationship Builder
. You’ll build rapport with customers, their equipment, and their business to keep them running smoothly.

Vigilance
. Report customer satisfaction, trends, and leads for equipment sales to the sales team. Be the eyes and ears of the branch and help make a difference.

Mentorship
. Listen actively and assess apprentice technicians, identifying areas for improvement and providing on-the-job training.

Organization
. This is a detail-oriented position; you will have systemized methods to prepare information, parts, and tooling before attending a worksite.
