Job Profile: Academic Advisor

The Academic Advising and Exploration Center in the Division of Enrollment and Retention at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a LTE Academic Advisor. This is a fixed‑term appointment.

Academic Advising (85%)

• Assist students with program planning, general course selection, registration, and schedule review.
• Engage students in decision‑making processes and promote appropriate and responsible academic choices.
• Refer students to appropriate campus resources to support their success and engagement.
• Counsel students on academic probation, academic alerts, or risk factors.
• Maintain confidentiality and accurate student records in compliance with FERPA policies.

Department Representation (5%)

• Participate in SOAR days, Warhawk Preview/Admitted Days, and other campus events to present AAEC services.
• Coordinate with assigned colleges/departments to keep AAEC staff updated on curricular changes or opportunities.

Miscellaneous (10%)

• Serve on department, division, or university committees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

University of Wisconsin‑Whitewater does not offer H‑1B or other work‑authorization visa sponsorship. • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years of professional higher‑education experience in a student‑facing or student‑support role.
• Experience in teaching, training, and/or presenting to diverse populations.

• Master’s degree (or enrollment in a Master’s program).
• Demonstrated excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of People Soft and EAB Navigate.

• Ability to interact respectfully with individuals from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
• Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following safety rules and regulations, including training and drills.
