Student Success Coach

- Meet with and provide success strategies to students; manage outreach and support efforts to students with a variety of academic and personal development skills necessary to achieve student success.
- Support daily operations and student support, reporting, and troubleshooting with stakeholders to ensure holistic coaching using the university’s methodology in development areas including attainment or learning outcomes, skills & competencies, student engagement & belonging, career preparation, and academic achievement & persistence.
- Assist with students’ career exploration and major fit processes to achieve academic and career goals, identify barriers to success, and help students implement strategies to overcome them.
- Assist and support all University retention-related efforts and implement new interventions to increase student retention within the Success Coaching program.
- Provide appropriate, accurate, and timely referrals for students.
- Maintain confidentiality and accurate student records and respond to academic inquiries according to FERPA policies.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, and resources.
- Engage in and implement Success Coaching best practices.
- Assist with programming across campus (e.g., SOAR, Warhawk Preview Days, New Student Seminar, Warhawk Welcome) and support related events.
- Support summer bridge programs and activities to model student success coaching and cross-training opportunities.
- Develop and maintain professional contacts with UW units, businesses, and vendors.
- Collaborate with academic advisors and other university stakeholders to support student success.
- Serve on university committees that support student success.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position. Key Job Responsibilities- Partner with academic advisors, faculty, staff, students, and administrative personnel to track analytics and identify risk indicators to support data-informed retention and transfer strategies.
- Adhere to the established plan of operation, curriculum, process policy, program procedures, and all related federal regulations.
- Monitor, plan, and facilitate student academic progress, programming, and success plans.
- Communicate, assist, and monitor progress of students.
- Make recommendations to improve retention efforts.
- Advocate for campus-wide retention initiatives.
- Provide referrals to appropriate campus resources.
- May assist with FAFSA completion and/or provide financial aid/scholarship information.
- Maintain accurate student records including contact logs, case notes, and files.

Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within the range of $50,000 - $58,000, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications. UW System employees receive a comprehensive benefits package. For details, see the UW System Employee Benefits Brochure.
Required Qualifications- Earned master’s degree.
- Minimum of five years of experience in a higher education setting (e.g., Admissions, Academic Advising, Registrar, Dean of Students, academic department) or related student support roles, with at least two years of advising or Success Coaching experience.
- Excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Earned master’s degree in higher education or related field.
- Five or more years of advising in higher education or related student support experience.
