DescriptionThe Department of Mathematics in the College of Letters and Sciences at the University of Wisconsin‑Whitewater seeks a one‑year full‑time Academic Staff Lecturer in Mathematics, starting Fall 2026 for the 2026‑27 academic year. Teaching assignments will be primarily courses below the calculus level, including remedial and co‑requisite support courses. This is a 9‑month fixed‑term appointment.
Responsibilities- Teach twenty‑seven credits of undergraduate mathematics courses per year.
- Instruct in person and participate in professional development activities.
- Facilitate classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, and assess student performance.
- Develop instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction.
- Serve as an initial point of contact for students regarding specific course or series content and expectations.
University of Wisconsin‑Whitewater does not offer H‑1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term. UW‑Whitewater is not an e‑verify employer, therefore STEM extensions are not options for work authorization.
CompensationMinimum starting 9‑month salary: $50,000, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.
Required Qualifications- Master’s Degree in Mathematics or a related field.
- 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics.
- Evidence of successful classroom teaching experience in mathematics.
- Commitment to creating inclusive learning environments centered on active and innovative pedagogy, especially in general education mathematics courses.
- Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations, including necessary training and drills.
