Job DutiesThe Department of Mathematics in the College of Letters and Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a one‑year full‑time Academic Staff Lecturer in Mathematics, starting Fall 2026 for the 2026‑27 academic year. Teaching assignments will be primarily courses below the calculus level, including remedial and co‑requisite support courses. This will be a 9‑month fixed‑term appointment.
ResponsibilitiesFull‑time teaching responsibility consists of teaching twenty‑seven credits of undergraduate mathematics courses per year. Instructors in the Department of Mathematics at UW‑W are expected to teach in person and participate in professional developmental activities.
- Facilitate classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance.
- Develop instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction.
- Serve as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations.
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater does not offer H‑1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term. UW‑Whitewater is not an e‑verify employer; therefore STEM extensions are not options for work authorization.
CompensationWell-qualified candidates can expect a minimum starting 9‑month salary of $50,000, commensurate with the candidate's education, related experience, and qualifications.
Required Qualifications- Master’s Degree in Mathematics or a related field.
- At least 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics.
- Strong commitment to teaching, with preference given to those who present evidence of successful classroom teaching experiences in mathematics.
- Commitment to creating inclusive learning environments centered around active and innovative pedagogy, particularly in general‑education mathematics courses.
- Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations, including necessary training and drills.
