Job DutiesThe Department of Psychology in the College of Letters & Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a lecturer in the area of School Psychology beginning August 2026. This is a half‑time position with responsibilities for teaching graduate courses in the School Psychology Program, supervising practicum placements, and applied research projects. The School Psychology Program is housed within the Psychology Department, grants the Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree, is approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI), and is accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).
This appointment will be for 9 months.
Half‑time teaching responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in school psychology, collaborating on curriculum changes and program innovations, and supervising student practicum experiences and applied research projects. Instructional staff may be required to teach in a variety of formats—including in‑person, online, or hybrid—as well as courses in the evenings. All students, faculty, and staff are required to ensure their materials are digitally accessible and utilize standard technology platforms supported by UW‑Whitewater.
Examples include Canvas, Google, and Microsoft Office applications. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the School Psychology Program and embrace the principles of diversity and inclusion as a member of the university community.
- Facilitate classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
- Develop instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
- Serve as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations
University of Wisconsin-Whitewater does not offer H‑1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term. UW‑Whitewater is not an e‑verify employer; therefore STEM extensions are not options for work authorization.
CompensationWell-qualified candidates can expect a minimum starting salary of $25,000, commensurate with the candidate's education, related experience, and qualifications. Additional opportunities to teach and earn a salary during the summer months may exist.
Required Qualifications- An Education Specialist Degree (Ed.S.) in School Psychology from a NASP approved or accredited program
- At least two years of full-time experience as a school psychologist, as well as National Certification as a School Psychologist (NCSP) and licensure (or license‑eligible) in Wisconsin for practicum supervision
- Evidence of potential for effective teaching with emphasis on promoting the success of graduate students and employing student‑centered high‑impact practices that foster engagement, skill development, and critical thinking
- Demonstrated record of effective teaching
- Demonstrated record of commitment to principles of inclusivity
- Commitment to socially just practices that promote equitable educational outcomes for children
- Experience assessing and supporting culturally and linguistically diverse children
- Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
- Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules, regulations, and necessary training and drills
Ed.S. degree in school psychology.
