Lavelle Industries is seeking a Safety Specialist. This is a crucial and highly visible role within our Whitewater, WI plant. This position supports the Safety Manager in administering Lavelle’s safety policies, driving improvements to reduce safety incidents, and ensuring our employees work in a safe environment.

The Safety Specialist at Lavelle can look forward to work that includes:- Collaborating with the Safety Manager to develop and execute the annual safety improvement plan, leading several Continuous Improvement (CI) project teams and incident investigations.
- Compiling, analyzing, and interpreting industrial injury data to identify areas needing improvement, training, or process revisions.
- Assisting with all required environmental reporting, ensuring compliance with state and local requirements, and working with department managers to train and ensure proficiency in these tasks.
- Reviewing industrial accident reports, assisting plant supervisors in completing corrective actions, and following up to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
- Participating in Plant Safety Committee meetings.
- Advising Engineering on ergonomic standards for new equipment purchases or work cell redesigns.
- Creating, reviewing, and updating employee safety training, delivering some of the training modules each year.
- Participating in Gemba walks, spending time on the production floor recommending changes that improve employee safety.
- Establishing standards and timing for periodic safety testing (e.g., noise, particulate) and coordinating with outside vendors to complete these assessments.
- Conducting JSA and ergonomic assessments and working with the team to implement improvements.
- BS degree in Occupational Safety or Science degree required.
- 1-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- In-depth understanding of Wisconsin environmental reporting requirements.
- Experience in creating and delivering safety training.
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and follow-through abilities.
- Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to identify multiple solutions.
- Collaborative and constructive relationship with production employees and the operations team.
- Strong initiative and a desire to improve in a team-oriented environment.
- Confident, autonomous self-starter with sound decision-making skills.
