A Day in the Life You’ll dive into project specs, collaborate with project managers and engineers, and connect with suppliers to validate assumptions. You’ll compare subcontractor proposals, negotiate when needed, and assemble competitive quotes on schedule. Throughout, you’ll keep our historical cost database current per established procedure and provide support through design and manufacturing.
What You’ll DoAnalyze drawings, blueprints, and specifications to build precise cost estimates for custom metal-fabricated dollies and racks.
Partner closely with project managers, engineers, and key stakeholders to gather inputs and clarify scope.
Develop, format, and deliver detailed and competitive client quotes within defined timelines.
Review subcontractor proposals, assess fit and pricing, and negotiate as appropriate.
Research and validate current costs for materials, labor, tooling, and equipment.
Maintain and expand a robust historical cost database for future reference and analysis per established procedure.
Support project teams during design and manufacturing phases to ensure estimates align with real-world execution.
Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations to refine accuracy.
Collaborate with the sales team to shape winning strategies and proposals.
Uphold company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
What You Bring Proven estimating experience within a metal fabrication environment.
Deep understanding of fabrication methods, materials, and cost drivers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Excellent math and analytical capabilities.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Meticulous attention to detail and a high bar for accuracy.
Clear communication and confident negotiation skills.
Self-directed with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Strong organization and time management.
Core Proficiencies Experience in a manufacturing environment
