Ready to move your career forward? As a Technician at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and repairs on our fleet of vehicles, keeping customers’ vehicles in shape and on the road.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensuring vehicles are maintained and safe for customers
  • Performing preventive maintenance on truck and trailer equipment independently and timely
  • Repairing and troubleshooting components such as engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area
  • Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
  • Learning new skills through Penske’s technician training
  • Assisting with other projects and tasks assigned by supervisor

Qualifications
  • 3 years of practical experience with vehicle maintenance
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
  • Specialized training and experience in diagnosis and troubleshooting of major components and ASE certification, 608/609 certifications preferred
  • Proficient with diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Problem solving skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Teamwork ability
  • Willingness to work in non-climate-controlled conditions
  • Basic computer skills
  • Understanding and compliance with Penske management instructions, DOT, OSHA, and safety policies
  • Full attendance essential
  • Requirements related to driving Penske and customer vehicles, DOT regulations, and driver qualification file
  • Willingness to travel within the district for customer yards, training sites, etc.
  • Background screening, drug screening, and pre-employment requirements
Physical Requirements
  • Move, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods
  • Use hands frequently to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, and operate required tools or controls
  • Work safely at heights with ladders and working platforms
  • Operate safely in all weather conditions
  • See and hear clearly to navigate workplace safely
  • Regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg); push/pull truck tires exceeding 100 lbs
