About the role
This role involves inspecting, servicing, and repairing diesel trucks, barges, and heavy equipment, with a focus on diesel engines and hydraulics. You will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing repairs and installations, and following a regular maintenance schedule to ensure all machinery is operating efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems effectively.
Whatyou'll do
- Inspect, operate, and conduct thorough testing of engines, electrical systems, cranes, and heavy machinery to accurately diagnose malfunctions and ensure optimal functionality.
- Repair, replace, and install a variety of equipment, including engines, navigational systems, operating systems, pumps, hydraulics, steering mechanisms, and components of cranes and heavy machinery, ensuring all systems function properly and safely.
- Adhere to and maintain a detailed monthly maintenance schedule, conducting preventive and corrective maintenance on all equipment, including cranes and heavy machinery, to minimize downtime and extend service life.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, assess system performance, and determine effective corrective actions to resolve any operational or technical problems.
- Ensure strict compliance with all quality standards, safety protocols, and industry regulations to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience with heavy equipment, preventive maintenance, and repair.
- Willingness to travel if needed.
- Truck ASE certificate.
- Ability to work on a variety of equipment.
- Welding skills are preferred.
- Ability to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English, including safety rules, operating procedures, manuals, etc.
- Ability to complete tasks and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
- CDL A is a plus.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints is a plus.
- Comfortable working under diverse weather conditions and in water‑based environments.
