Job Description

Part Time Foreign Language Teacher (Spanish and French)

Effective 2026‑27 School Year

Reports to:

Principal (Assistant Principal, Cluster Coordinator, High School)

Job Goals
  • Instruct students in accordance with the district’s educational philosophy, course objectives, and curriculum.
  • Provide maximum learning opportunities for students in accordance with program objectives and each student’s abilities, interests, and needs.
  • Continuously develop professional knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors to improve educational opportunities for students.
Performance Responsibilities Instruction
  • Instruct students in accordance with the district's philosophy of education, policies, and curriculum.
  • Direct the teaching/learning process toward achievement of program goals, establish specific objectives for all lessons, and communicate these objectives to students.
  • Be prepared to instruct assigned students and maintain written documentation of preparation.
  • Diagnose learning needs of students relative to course objectives and seek assistance from district specialists when required.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques, materials, and media consistent with the needs and abilities of students and course objectives.
  • Assess progress continuously and provide progress reports as required.
  • Set a positive example for students and community by demonstrating respect, concern, and awareness of community values.
Classroom Management
  • Manage and fully utilize class time for instructional purposes.
  • Establish and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and teaching.
  • Assist administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct, and maintain order fairly.
  • Promote appropriate behavior and address misbehavior when it occurs in the teacher's presence or when it is reported.
  • Takes reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Organization
  • Conduct school‑related activities in conformity with policy and regulations.
  • Cooperate with administrators and others to support school activities and maintain a conducive learning environment.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate student records as required by law and policy.
  • Take and record attendance accurately; report excessive absenteeism to supervisors and parents.
  • Conduct routine assignments accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of materials and supplies.
  • Perform all other duties as required by school administration.
Parent/Community Relationships
  • Be available to students and parents for education‑related purposes.
  • Establish and maintain communication with students and their parents concerning academic and behavioral progress.
  • Solicit appropriate parental help as needed.
  • Maintain good humor, enthusiasm, initiative, and integrity with students and parents.
Curriculum Development
  • Assist in development of curriculum and methods of student evaluation in cooperation with colleagues and administration.
Professional Development
  • Incorporate constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement from supervisors.
  • Continuously self‑evaluate professional effectiveness in areas of curriculum, classroom performance, and relationships.
  • Keep abreast of new developments in instructional disciplines and educational practices.

Salary per the Unit A Collective Bargaining Agreement

Job Requirements
  • At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
  • Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
