Our client is a well-established underground contractor that has been in business since the 1920s. They have a long-standing reputation for underground pipeline repair and installation, sewer rehabilitation, pipe lining, storm drain work and complex municipal utility projects. A significant portion of their work is performed throughout Los Angeles, including projects with the City of Los Angeles.
They're looking to add an experienced Project Manager / Estimator who can take underground projects from bid through construction and final completion.
The RoleThe Project Manager / Estimator will be involved throughout the full lifecycle of municipal underground projects. You'll support estimating and bidding, transition awarded work into operations, and manage projects through execution, change management and closeout.
This role is well suited for someone who understands both the estimating and operational sides of underground construction and is comfortable coordinating directly with field teams, agencies and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Estimate underground utility, sewer, storm drain, pipeline and rehabilitation projects
- Review plans, specifications, quantities, addenda and project requirements
- Develop project pricing for labor, equipment, materials and subcontractors
- Manage awarded projects from startup through completion and closeout
- Coordinate with foremen, field crews, subcontractors, suppliers and public agencies
- Manage RFIs, RFCOs, change orders, T&M tickets and supporting project documentation
- Monitor project costs, budgets, schedules and production
- Attend project meetings, job walks and agency meetings as needed
- Maintain required City and project documentation throughout construction
- Identify field issues, constructability concerns and potential changes
- Work with operations to keep projects on schedule and properly documented
- Support billing, cost tracking and project closeout
- Experience in underground utility, sewer, storm drain, pipeline or heavy civil construction
- Project management experience with municipal or public works projects
- Estimating experience and ability to review plans, perform takeoffs and develop project pricing
- Experience with City of Los Angeles projects strongly preferred
- Understanding of underground construction means and methods
- Experience with RFIs, RFCOs, change orders and T&M work
- Sewer rehabilitation, pipe lining, pipe bursting or trenchless construction experience is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office;
Sage/Timberline experience is a plus - Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work from the Pico Rivera office and travel to Los Angeles-area projects and meetings as needed
- Long-established contractor with a strong reputation in Southern California
