The dual campus Invasive Radiology Lead will work at both the Whittier and Downey Campuses. Generally the time will be split daily as follows;
Mondays and Tuesdays at Downey and Wednesday – Friday at the Whittier campus. There will be limited or no intra day split coverage unless absolutely necessary . The Lead is responsible for circulating and scrubbing during procedures, patient teaching, and assisting with patient care within scope of practice. In addition to performing procedures, this position acts as the principle invasive radiology technologist overseeing the technical operations required for the performance of routine and advanced procedures.
This individual is responsible for coordinating work assignments,coordinating staff breaks and developing the Work and On-call schedules at both campuses. Reviews and updates procedure manuals and protocols; assists in staff education, maintaining competencies and training; ensures daily quality controls and testing of equipment; provides input to IR Manager regarding hiring and annual performance appraisals for IR Technologist staff ; assists with inventory management;
and participates in quality improvement projects in the department. This individual is considered an expert-level IR tech. The ability to self-direct and to organize a varied workload is required.
- Expert technical skills in general radiography and fluoroscopy procedures
- Advanced knowledge of all vasculature and organ systems
- Advanced knowledge of all interventional radiology procedures
- Expertly skilled in the use of contrast agents, stents, PTA catheters, wires, guide catheter sheaths, thrombectomy, atherectomy, thrombolysis interventional equipment.
- Basic patient care and assessment techniques
- Knowledgeable in radiation safety, radiation protection and medical terminology
- High degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure techniques
Required:
- Three (3) years’ experience in a hospital setting performing diagnostic and interventional procedures
- Current BLS issued by the American Heart Association
Preferred:
- VI Certification
- ARRT in Vascular-Interventional Radiography
- CA Fluoroscopy License
