Do you have a knack for fostering positive behavior and creating a supportive learning environment? Holding Hands Inc. is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Behavior Technician.
Department: ABA – Behavioral Support
Location: Whittier, CA
Compensation: $22.00 - $28.00 / hour
Schedule- Sessions are primarily 2–3 hours each and take place in the clients’ homes, community, or at one of our clinics.
- Sessions may be a 20-mile or 30-minute commute.
- Appointment-based scheduling with an average of 20 hours per week minimum.
- Majority of sessions are after school hours until 8:00 pm.
- Weekends are an option between 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.
- Use a model of therapy referred to as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and be trained in evidence-based ABA principles to provide behavioral support for students requiring 1:1 care.
- Offer personalized support in clients’ homes, schools, or clinics.
- Collaborate with the clinical team to implement an intervention plan tailored to each client, while collecting observational data and session notes.
- ABA focuses on reducing target behaviors and teaching new skills and functional behaviors to foster independence.
- Celebrate and acknowledge clients' progress throughout the journey.
- Recognize that ABA is not a one‑size‑fits‑all approach; customize interventions to each learner’s skills, needs, interests, developmental profile, preferences, and setting.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 6 months of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (paid or unpaid).
- Ability to lift at least 10 pounds, sit, and run as needed.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and active auto insurance.
- Comfortable commuting 20 miles or 30 minutes to client sessions.
- Passion for working with children, youth, and young adults with developmental disabilities.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree.
- ABA experience or RBT certification.
- CPR certification in both pediatrics and adults.
- Experience managing a variety of maladaptive behaviors, including non‑compliance, elopement, verbal and physical aggression, and self‑injurious behaviors.
